Dark web and darknets

Both in the city and on the Internet, not only respectable citizens are looking for privacy, but also those who want to hide their not-quite-legal activities. In the city, dark deeds are usually carried out in slums and criminal dens. For them, they choose places where you can’t just wander — and certainly they are not marked on a public map. The addresses and appearances of each brothel are known only to a limited circle of people. Although all of us, ordinary people, know that they definitely exist somewhere.

Darknets (darknet, dark or shadow network) work in the same way — conspiratorial networks of different “groupings”. The nodes of each individual darknet — servers, computers, routers — are not visible not only to search engines, but also to most browsers, since non-standard protocols are used to transfer data inside such a network. Neither a direct link nor a password will help an ordinary user to enter there.

Together, darknets make up the dark web — that part of the deep web that is considered a haven for dark personalities: drug and arms dealers, extortionists, sellers of stolen data… many people know that the dark web exists, but not everyone understands how to get there.

However, conspiracy is sometimes needed not only by hackers and intermediaries in illegal transactions.

Dissidents, freedom of speech fighters or informants who help journalists in investigations can hide from prosecution in a suspicious area, and use a darkweb to communicate anonymously online. Some go to shadow networks and just to protect themselves from data collection on the Internet. There are more accessible and safer tools for this, but some people like a radical approach.
